Praying in tongues
Praying in tongues is one of the signs that Jesus said will flow those who believe.Mark 16:17-20 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Let us see some of the benefits of praying in tongues
- When you speak in tongues you write things into your heart and future. The tongue writes according to bible, when you pray in tongues it writes things into your heart. Psalm 45:1 My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
- When you speak in tongue God is exalted –Ps66:16 I cried unto Him with my mouth, and He was extolled with my tongue. Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
- When you speak in tongue you speak mysteries –1 Corinthians 14:2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue[a] does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit
- Speaking in tongues strengthens or edifies you. It builds you up. 1 Corinthians 14:4 A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.
- You can build up your faith to rise higher and higher by speaking in tongue. Jude 20 But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [[a]make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit
- When you pray in tongue your spirit prays. 1 Corinthians 14:14. For if I pray in an [unknown] tongue, my spirit [by the [a]Holy Spirit within me] prays, but my mind is unproductive [it bears no fruit and helps nobody].
- You can know the mind of God by praying in tongue– When you pray in tongues , your spirit prays and your spirit searches the mind of God and communicate this to you. 1Cor2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. Msg translationThe Spirit, not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. Who ever knows what you’re thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God—except that he not only knows what he’s thinking, but he lets us in on it. God offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us. We don’t have to rely on the world’s guesses and opinions. We didn’t learn this by reading books or going to school; we learned it from God, who taught us person-to-person through Jesus, and we’re passing it on to you in the same first hand, personal way.
- Praying in tongues can direct the course of your life. The words that we speaks when we pray in tongues can direct the course of our life just like a rudder will direct the course of a ship. James3:4-6 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
- Praying in tongue is the only way to pray at times Eph6:18 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).
- You pray the right prayer by praying in tongues. Rm8:26-28 meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good
