God’s Covenant with Noah

May you enjoy the grace of God today!

There are three parts to God’s covenant with Noah.

  • Covenant of grace or favour– The covenant of grace that God would be to him a God and that out of his seed God would take to himself a people. God chose to favour Noah; it has nothing to do with what he did. In the same manner, God has chosen to favour you. Noah was encouraged to obey God because he was favoured. In the same manner the grace of God should motivate us to obey God.
  • Covenant of protection– Because Noah found grace in the sight of God he preserved him. Noah was preserved through the ark. The ark is symbolic of what Jesus Christ is to us (Our saviour). As long as we are in Jesus Christ we cannot be destroyed.
  • The covenant of providence that the course of nature shall continue to the end of time, notwithstanding the interruption which the flood would give to it. God said he will not allow the flood to destroy the earth.
